Commissioner Dawson Retired after 38
years as a teacher, principal, and district administrator in the West
Valley School District. He is married to Jo Ann and has four sons and
nine grandchildren. His hobbies include camping, reading, and yard work. |

Commissioner Schmidt has served as a Fire
District Commissioner since 1989. He also sits on the Board of Directors
for ESD 101 since 1971, and is a retired Dean of Trade Industrial
Apprenticeships, for SCC. |

Commissioner Anderson is a 29 year Veteran Firefighter and is serving in
his second term as commissioner. He is married with 2 daughters, 2
step-sons, and nine grandchildren. He served four years on the West
Valley Board of Directors; one year as President. Commissioner Anderson
has an AA in Fire Administration, an AA in Civil Engineering Technology
from Spokane Community College, and a BA from Eastern Washington
University.

Commissioner Hanson was elected to the board of Commissioners in 2001.
He is a representative of Sheet Metal Workers Local 66 with an office in
Spokane Valley. He also serves as vice-president of the N.E. Washington/
N. Idaho Building and Construction Trade Council, as well as sitting on
the Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council AFL-CIO
Executive Board. Commissioner Hanson has lived in the Spokane Valley
since 1970 and currently resides in Otis Orchards with his wife
Kristine, daughter Emily and son Jack. His hobbies include dirt bike
riding, snowmobiling, spending time with family, and enjoying the
Centennial Trail. |

Commissioner Nesbitt worked for the Washington State Dept of Natural Resources on a
fire crew during the summer of 1960. In the summer of 1961 he worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a crew
boss on a Hotshot Crew. 1964 thru 1966 worked Three years for the Air National
Guard Fire Department at Geiger Field, WA as a firefighter. He worked one year
for the Spokane International Airport Fire Department and thirty four years for
the Spokane Valley Fire Department as a firefighter. He ran for fire commissioner in 2003 and was elected to a six
year term beginning in 2004. He was a member of the Washington Air National
Guard for twenty two years retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1991. |
