SVFD 14 FIREFIGHTER RECRUITS GRADUATE FROM FIRE ACADEMY

Spokane Valley Fire is happy to announce the graduation of our 14 Firefighter Recruits.  SVFD Recruits have been enrolled in a very active and aggressive training schedule for the past 15 weeks at the Recruit Academy.  The 14 recruits began their training Tuesday, September 3. Two of the recruits from the Academy received additional training to attain their National Registry EMT certification.

The new Firefighters will receive their pin today at the graduation ceremony. Going forward, they will be on one year of probation while they continue to participate in additional training and evaluation for Firefighter competency.

Recruits have received their initial Fire Station assignment and will be rotated every two months throughout the SVFD 10 Fire Stations.

Graduation is being held:

TIME                         1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (prompt start)

WHERE                     Avenues Event Center, 9320 E Mission Avenue, Spokane Valley

“We are very proud of these Firefighters and wish them a very successful probationary year,” said SVFD Fire Chief, Bryan Collins.  “They have worked hard throughout the Recruit Academy.  We are extremely proud that every Recruit made it through the Academy and into their probationary year here at the SVFD.”

Continued evaluation and Training will occur throughout the probationary year and will include:

Practical Skills encompassing:

  • Fire Suppression
  • EMS
  • Physical Requirements

Didactic Knowledge where they will need to pass a comprehensive written exam.
