March is Pet Poison Prevention Awareness Month. March is designated as Pet Poison Prevention Awareness Month. Understanding what potential harmful poisons exist in your home and yard is the first step to keeping your pet safe.

Even the most common household items can be dangerous for your pet here are some examples:

There are numerous human foods which can be toxic to pets. Here are some of them:

  • Alcohol
  • Bones
  • Caffeine
  • Chocolate
  • Citrus oil extracts
  • Grapes and raisins
  • Moldy foods
  • Medicine/ supplements

Common house plants that are known to be toxic include:

  • Azalea
  • Cactus
  • Creeping Charlies
  • Lilies
  • Ivy
  • Mistletoe
  • Philodendron
  • Poinsettia
