Jeremiah is from the Northwest.  He went to Coeur d’Alene High School just across the border.  Afterward, he attended Idaho State University to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Services Administration all while playing defensive end on the Bengal’s football team.  To prepare for becoming a full-time Firefighter, Jeremiah volunteered at Selkirk Fire Department.  He has spent time earning fire certifications and gaining additional training including:

  • FF1
  • HazMat FRO
  • Auto Extrication
  • EMT Basic
  • El Camino Fire Academy

Jeremiah enjoys the outdoors a lot!  He walked 336 miles through the Frank Church Wilderness solo.  It just makes sense that he also is a Strengths and Conditioning Coach.

While waiting to become a Firefighter, Jeremiah worked as a general contractor for 10 years.  We are happy his Firefighting career is beginning with us here at the SVFD!

This week he will be training on:

  • Building Construction
  • Fire Behavior
  • Fire Control
  • Forcible Entry
  • EMS and more
  • And reading that big 1500 page manual

All recruits will have to pass exams throughout the training on skills learned.  After graduation, crews will be rotated through different station assignments and will be on probation for 1 year.

We welcome Jeremiah and wish him a very successful academy!
