Medic 7 Launched to Provide Emergency Medical Services

Medic 7 Launched to Provide Emergency Medical Services

On April 3, SVFD launched Medic 7, a single emergency medical services (EMS) unit to respond to lower severity medical calls. Medic 7 will deliver efficient and effective medical services while reducing wear and tear on our fire engines and ladder trucks. The unit is operating out of Evergreen Fire Station 7.

In Memoriam – Retired Fire Chief Douglas Rider

Retired Fire Chief Douglas J. Rider passed away on March 19 at age 84. He joined the Spokane Valley Fire Department in 1954 and served until his retirement as Fire Chief in 1982. Memorial services are planned for April 21 at 11 am.

Extrication Response after Head On Collision with Valley Engine 1

Extrication Response after Head On Collision with Valley Engine 1

Valley Engine 1 was returning to University Station 1 early this morning when the engine was struck by a vehicle. The four firefighters on board were unharmed. They immediately set to work providing patient care to the driver of the vehicle, who was trapped inside. After SVFD extrication units cut the vehicle from around the patient, he was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
