SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO GARAGE FIRE

**********************************************

The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a reported residential fire at approximately 1315 today in the 2700 block of South Bowdish in Spokane Valley.

The first arriving crews observed brown smoke coming from the eaves from all four sides of a garage. Neighbors had noticed the fire, called 911 and were attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.

VE9 forced entry into the garage and attacked the fire with a pre-connected 1.75” hoseline. Additional crews began searching the residence to ensure no one was inside. A dog was found inside and safely removed from the structure. The fire was knocked down in only a few minutes.

The fire was contained to the garage, with some smoke damage in the living quarters.

A total of 12 fire units responded to the call. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

SVFD would like to remind residents to be aware of things that occur in their neighborhood.
