WILDFIRE READY NEIGHBORS

Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WA DNR) has launched a new program called “Wildfire Ready Neighbors”.  This new, six-week pilot program is available in Spokane, Chelan, and Okanogan counties, counties at high risk for wildfires. The year 2020 was one of the worst wildfire seasons in the state, with 1,600 fires across Washington state and 298 homes lost. It is DNR’s aim to give homeowners the tools they need to protect their properties. Should DNR get additional funding, they hope to expand the program throughout the state.

As stated by DNR, wildfire risk is a “fact of life” in our community. Their program aims to get homeowners better prepared for wildfire and make our communities more resilient. According to DNR, “Wildfire preparedness isn’t one-size-fits all. That’s why we’ve developed a simple survey to help…craft a Wildfire Ready Plan just for you that works for your property, budget, and lifestyle.”

Register on the DNR website to get your free Wildfire Ready Plan and schedule a consultation from local wildfire experts; sign up before June 11 to win a chance at a $300 gift card to a local hardware store.
